Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent visit to Plateau State, describing it as a mockery of leadership and a display of insensitivity to the victims of the state’s recurring violence.
Atiku, in a statement on Monday, said the President’s trip appeared more like a political showmanship than a genuine act of compassion toward communities mourning their dead and displaced loved ones.
He lamented that rather than addressing the root causes of insecurity and ensuring justice for the victims, the government continues to focus on optics and self-praise.
“The people of Plateau deserve empathy, not empty gestures. Leadership should bring comfort and solutions, not mockery,” Atiku stated.
The former Vice President urged the Federal Government to prioritise security reforms and humanitarian relief for affected communities, stressing that Nigeria cannot afford to treat human lives with such casual disregard.
