Wike to Flag Off 12 New Roads, Solar Lighting Projects in Abuja

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is set to flag off the construction of 12 new roads alongside the installation of solar-powered streetlights under the Light Up Abuja Programme.

The event, scheduled for Thursday this week, will kickstart a fresh phase of infrastructure upgrades aimed at easing traffic, improving security, and enhancing the general outlook of the Federal Capital City (FCC) and key expressways.

According to the FCT Administration, the road projects will not only improve connectivity within Abuja but also support economic activities, while the solar streetlights will provide safer night movement and reduce reliance on the electricity grid.

Wike, since assuming office, has prioritized aggressive infrastructural development in the nation’s capital, with roads, lighting, and beautification projects ranking high on his agenda.

Residents and stakeholders are expected to attend the flag-off ceremony, which marks a major step toward delivering the administration’s promise of a brighter and more connected Abuja.
