In less than a week of digging into the affairs of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, activist and Sahara Reporters founder Omoyele Sowore has uncovered what he described as “staggering revelations” about alleged properties linked to the former Rivers governor in the United States.
However, the development has stirred heated conversations online, as many Nigerians contrasted Sowore’s swift findings on Wike with his two years of relentless criticism of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate.
According to commentators, despite Sowore’s sustained scrutiny of Obi, “nothing worthy of note” emerged, a situation some say dented his reputation among opposition supporters.
One viral post read: “In less than a week, Sowore dug into Wike and uncovered staggering revelations. But in two years of dragging Obi, he found nothing. Saint Peter Obi is coming!”
The remarks reflect the growing sentiment among Obi’s supporters that the former Anambra governor has maintained a cleaner record compared to many of his political contemporaries.
Meanwhile, Wike, who currently serves under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as FCT Minister, has come under increasing pressure following Sowore’s allegations, which include property transfers in Florida.
Political analysts say the unfolding saga could further polarize public opinion as Nigeria’s opposition repositions ahead of 2027.
