Speaking in response to recent claims made by activist Omoyele Sowore, Wike dismissed the reports as baseless, insisting that they were fabricated by individuals who “pay bribes to people like Sowore” to tarnish his reputation.
“My wife is an American, my children are Americans,” Wike stated, stressing that the properties in question do not belong to him and that attempts to connect him to real estate dealings in Florida were politically motivated smear campaigns.
The allegations had alleged that Wike used his wife, Eberechi Suzette Nyesom-Wike, a serving Court of Appeal judge, and their children’s names to transfer ownership of properties in Winter Springs, Florida.
However, Wike has refuted any wrongdoing, labeling the accusations as a continuation of targeted attacks against his person.
The controversy has sparked heated debates online, with many Nigerians demanding thorough investigations into the matter, while Wike’s supporters insist that the reports are part of a broader agenda to discredit him.
As the issue unfolds, questions remain on whether the allegations will lead to formal probes, both in Nigeria and abroad.
