The President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo, has dismissed reports and images circulating on social media suggesting that he recently met with Labour Party leader and former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement released on Wednesday, MC Oluomo described the viral photo as “fabricated and misleading”, stressing that he has not held any political meeting or conversation with Peter Obi. He urged Nigerians to be wary of misinformation aimed at causing political tension and confusion ahead of future elections.
“The trending photo is fake and meant to mislead the public. I have not met or had any form of discussion with Peter Obi. People should stop spreading lies for political propaganda,” he said.
The influential transport leader also used the opportunity to reaffirm his unwavering loyalty and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he described as “a trusted leader with a clear vision for Nigeria’s progress.”
“My commitment to President Tinubu and his Renewed Hope Agenda remains strong. No propaganda or fake news will change that,” MC Oluomo added.
This denial comes amid a wave of fabricated political content making rounds on social platforms, with supporters of different parties using manipulated images and videos to sway public opinion ahead of the 2027 elections.
Political observers have cautioned Nigerians to verify claims before sharing them, emphasizing that fake news has the potential to misinform voters and destabilize public trust.
