Lagos NURTW Chairman Clarifies Position on Member’s Arrest in Fatal Incident

Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle (Sego), Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), has issued a statement clarifying the union’s stance following the arrest of a member in connection with a fatal incident.

In the statement, Chairman Sego emphasized that while the arrested member was once considered a loyalist, his actions are entirely his own and do not represent the NURTW in any way. He urged law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation to ensure justice is served.

Sego also stressed that the union does not condone violence or unlawful acts and announced that the member will face internal disciplinary procedures once the legal process concludes. He extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and offered the union’s support during this difficult time.

The chairman further addressed social media users and bloggers, asking them to avoid tagging him in posts linking him to the incident, calling such actions misleading and unfair.

Sego reaffirmed the union’s commitment to the welfare of its members, the rule of law, and the safety of all citizens.
