Lagos Floods Again After Heavy Downpour, Resident Calls for Collective Action

A Nigerian man has shared a firsthand account of the recurring flood crisis in Lagos following a heavy downpour on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

According to him, areas such as Ago Palace Way (Apple Junction, Ago Bridge) and Mile 2 were severely affected, with roads submerged and traffic brought to a standstill. He captured scenes from the affected areas to highlight the harsh reality Lagosians face every rainy season.

While acknowledging the Lagos State Government’s ongoing efforts—including clearing drains, expanding canals, and opening new water channels—he stressed that government interventions alone are not enough to solve the problem.

He urged residents to play their part by:

  • Stopping indiscriminate dumping of refuse in gutters 🚯

  • Keeping drainage paths free from blockages

  • Obeying urban planning and environmental rules

“Flooding can be drastically reduced if we all cooperate,” he said, calling on citizens to work hand in hand with the government to protect Lagos and uphold its status as a true Centre of Excellence.
