Tension is rising in Kwara State following reports of another killing in Oke Ode, coming shortly after recent violence in Ilorin.
The repeated incidents have triggered anger among residents, with many openly questioning the state government’s capacity to secure lives and property. One outraged citizen stated:
“There have been killings in Ilorin. There’s another killing in Oke Ode in Kwara. If this man here isn’t capable of protecting the people in this state, he should step down so that a capable person can take his position. I don’t support rubbish. Do your job as a Governor or step down.”
The killings have deepened concerns over rising insecurity across communities in Kwara. Many are demanding urgent intervention from security agencies and accountability from the state leadership.
Civil society groups have also begun calling for heightened security patrols, community policing, and intelligence gathering to stem the wave of violence.
As the situation unfolds, all eyes are now on the Kwara State Government to act decisively in restoring peace and protecting citizens.
