The Federal Government has announced the disbursement of ₦330 billion in cash and transfers to poor Nigerians across the country, according to the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun.
Edun, speaking earlier today, revealed that the initiative was part of the government’s ongoing social intervention programs aimed at cushioning the effects of economic hardship and supporting the most vulnerable households.
However, the announcement has sparked a wave of reactions from Nigerians nationwide. While some welcomed the news, many others took to social media to question the transparency of the distribution process.
One user wrote:
“My people abeg, who received their own? Make I know whether I don pack commot for Nigeria. I go my village, I no come collect my own oo…”
Others lamented that despite repeated government claims of huge disbursements, ordinary citizens are yet to feel the impact.
The debate has once again raised concerns about accountability and equitable distribution of welfare funds in Nigeria, with many urging the government to publish clear beneficiary lists and ensure transparency in future payments.
