Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have advanced to the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup after defeating Nigerian side Kwara United 1-0 in Kumasi, sealing a 5-3 aggregate victory.
The Porcupine Warriors showed composure and tactical discipline in front of their home crowd, with the decisive goal ensuring Kwara United’s comeback hopes were dashed.
With this win, Asante Kotoko now progress to the second preliminary round, where they will face Moroccan heavyweights Wydad Casablanca — a club with a strong continental pedigree and a tough test for the Ghanaians.
The upcoming tie is expected to be a thrilling contest, with Kotoko seeking to make a deep run in the competition while Wydad aim to reassert their dominance in African club football.
