Vodi Tailors Fulfils Promise, Gifts 40 Young Entrepreneurs New Sewing Machines

In a remarkable display of youth empowerment and support for homegrown entrepreneurship, the Chief Executive Officer of Vodi Tailors, Mr. Seyi Adekunle, has fulfilled his earlier pledge by distributing 40 brand-new customized sewing machines to 40 young Nigerians with demonstrated tailoring skills.

The donation ceremony, held at the Vodi Tailoring Academy headquarters in Abuja, was attended by aspiring fashion designers, industry stakeholders, and representatives from various youth empowerment initiatives.

“This is more than a donation—it’s an investment in Nigeria’s future. I promised to support young entrepreneurs who are passionate about tailoring, and today, I’m proud to make good on that promise,” Mr. Adekunle said during the presentation.

It will be recalled that earlier this year, Adekunle publicly announced his intention to equip talented youths with tools to launch or grow their tailoring businesses, as part of Vodi’s broader initiative to promote skill acquisition over dependency.

Each of the beneficiaries received:

• A high-performance, custom-branded Vodi sewing machine

• Startup support materials including fabric, thread, and measuring kits

• Access to mentorship programs and business advisory sessions at the Vodi Academy

The initiative has been widely praised as a meaningful contribution to fighting youth unemployment and promoting Made-in-Nigeria fashion.

“This gesture is truly empowering,” said Fatima Musa, one of the recipients. “Now I can start taking orders from clients without relying on borrowed equipment.”

Several industry figures and policymakers in attendance urged other private sector leaders to emulate Vodi’s model by investing directly in skill-based entrepreneurship.

The initiative aligns with national goals on job creation and economic diversification, particularly in the creative economy. Mr. Adekunle emphasized that this is just the beginning, promising to expand the program annually.

“Nigeria’s talent pool is deep. We just need to support it with the right tools and mentorship,” he added.
