The shockwaves from the tragic murder of popular aquaculture content creator, Ifesinachi Onyekere, known widely as Fish Magnet, continue to ripple through communities both in Nigeria and abroad.
Among those deeply affected is a Nigerian jewellery seller based overseas, who revealed that the incident forced her to take drastic emotional steps — including deleting several phone contacts.Taking to social media, the entrepreneur shared her grief and fear, saying:
“After I heard what happened to Fish Magnet, I couldn’t hold it in. I had to start deleting a lot of numbers from my phone. I realized I didn’t feel safe with many people I once trusted.”
She didn’t mention specific individuals or reasons, but hinted at a sense of betrayal, loss of trust, and the harsh realities of navigating personal safety, even in circles that once seemed secure.
Fish Magnet, a vibrant TikTok personality and aquaculture educator, was kidnapped and killed in cold blood, sending shock and outrage across Nigeria's content creation and fish farming community. Known for his motivational videos and hands-on fish farming tutorials, Fish Magnet inspired thousands of Nigerian youth to consider agriculture as a viable career path.
For the jewellery seller — and many others — his death has not only sparked mourning but deep introspection. “His death taught me that life is fragile and people are not always who they seem to be,” she added.
