Davido Responds to "VeryDarkMan" Insults with Solidarity and Support

Afrobeats superstar Davido has responded to recent online criticism and insults from social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM), not with anger, but with public support and affirmation.

VeryDarkMan, known for his outspoken commentary on public figures, had directed criticism toward Davido and other music icons, raising questions about the social responsibilities of celebs who flaunt immense wealth.

Rather than escalating tensions, Davido opted for a stance of empathy and advocacy:

  • Defending Paulo Okoye: When activist disagreement emerged involving talent manager Paulo Okoye, Davido backed Paulo, noting the major role he played in securing Davido’s first ₦10 million deal despite ongoing rhetoric.

  • Demanding VDM’s Release: Following VDM’s arrest by the EFCC over allegations tied to unauthorized bank transactions, Davido took to X (formerly Twitter) to call for his release, praising VDM’s positive influence on everyday Nigerians. He encouraged authorities to free him, noting that VDM’s activism reflects an important voice for mass empowerment.

“Outside all the noise, it’s good to see that the good one does impact lives... Free my guy,” Davido posted in X.
