Wike Issues Stern Warning Ahead of 2027 Elections: "We Won’t Allow Results from Government House"

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to political opponents in Rivers State, vowing to prevent any attempts at electoral malpractice in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Speaking in Port Harcourt, Wike emphasized that the manipulation of election results would not be tolerated. He specifically addressed concerns about the potential for results to be announced from the Rivers State Government House without proper documentation, stating, “Do you think we will allow you to carry the results sheet to the government house and then announce it without scores? It is not going to be possible.”

Wike's remarks come amid ongoing political tensions between him and Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State. Despite interventions from President Bola Tinubu, the rivalry persists, with both leaders vying for control over the state's political landscape.

The FCT Minister also cautioned against attempts to shift blame for electoral issues onto others, asserting that such actions would not be acceptable. He further highlighted the political dynamics in Rivers State, noting the complex interplay between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People's Democratic Party (PDP), which he described as a "rainbow coalition" that could influence the 2027 elections.

As the 2027 elections approach, Wike's warning underscores the heightened political stakes in Rivers State and the broader Nigerian political arena. His commitment to ensuring electoral integrity and preventing manipulation reflects the ongoing challenges facing the nation's democratic processes
