Troops Arrest Gunrunner Yahaya Adamu, Capture Saeedu Haruna in Swift Crackdown, Shining Light on Those Terrorizing Plateau and Kaduna States



In a significant operation, Nigerian troops have apprehended two notorious gunrunners Yahaya Adamu and Saeedu Haruna highlighting ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks in Plateau and Kaduna States.

On March 12, 2025, troops from the 3 Division and Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) conducted offensive operations in Plateau State as part of Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A. During these operations, troops engaged kidnappers near the high grounds in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area, neutralizing two criminals and recovering 18 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) and 9 rounds of 5.56x45mm ammunition. Additionally, in Bokkos Local Government Area, troops intercepted a 21-year-old male gunrunner from Kopal Village, Mangu District, who was found in possession of one AK-47 magazine and 48 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition. The suspect and recovered items are in custody for investigation 

In a separate operation on March 11, 2025, troops conducted a sting operation in Garaje Community, Jema’a Local Government Area, Kaduna State, to arrest a wanted kidnapper, terrorist, and gunrunner. The suspect, who had been on security agencies’ wanted list, was lured with an offer to sell an AK-47 rifle for ₦1.5 million. He agreed to meet at a designated location in Garaje Community, where troops apprehended him. A search on the suspect led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, and two rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition. 

The suspect and recovered arms are in custody, and he is making useful confessions to assist in tracking and arresting other members of the criminal syndicate .
