Governor Seyi Makinde Inspects Omololu Olunloyo Park, Airport Road Project as Part of Aerotropolis Vision
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to urban transformation and infrastructural development with the inspection of two major projects in Ibadan the Omololu Olunloyo Park and the 3.2-kilometre dualised Omololu Olunloyo Airport Road.
Governor Makinde, who personally led the inspection on Tuesday, revealed that both projects are central to his broader plan of turning the Ibadan Airport axis into an aerotropolis a modern city built around an airport, integrating commerce, tourism, and residential development.
“The Omololu Olunloyo Park is strategically located at the beginning of the dualised Airport Road. This is part of our vision to create an aerotropolis around the Ibadan Airport, which will attract investment and improve the ease of doing business in Oyo State,” Makinde said during the tour.

Omololu Olunloyo Park is designed as a modern green recreational space to enhance urban aesthetics and provide leisure opportunities for residents and travelers.

The Airport Road dualisation is intended to facilitate smoother traffic flow, improve access to the Ibadan Airport, and boost commercial activities along the corridor.
The governor emphasized that the transformation of the area is not just about beautification but about strategic economic positioning, ensuring that Ibadan becomes a key node for aviation, trade, and tourism.
Governor Makinde’s aerotropolis vision has drawn praise from urban planners and economic stakeholders who believe it could turn Ibadan into a modern logistics and investment hub in Nigeria’s southwest.
“We are planning beyond roads and parks. We are laying the foundation for a new economic frontier in Oyo State,” Makinde said.
Residents and commuters have welcomed the developments, noting that the area has already begun to see increased activity and improved road safety since the dualisation began.
Makinde’s administration has continued to prioritize infrastructure, education, and health, with recent achievements including major road networks, school rehabilitations, and the upgrading of primary healthcare centers across the state.
