Eedris Abdulkareem Urges GTBank to Release VeryDarkMan, Advocates for Legal Process

Veteran Nigerian musician Eedris Abdulkareem has publicly called on Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) to immediately release social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan. Abdulkareem emphasized that individuals should not be arrested or detained solely based on verbal accusations.

He stressed the importance of adhering to the legal process, stating, “You don't just arrest and imprison someone for making verbal accusations; you take legal action and let the court decide.”

The call for VeryDarkMan's release comes amid ongoing controversies surrounding his arrest. In February 2025, VeryDarkMan alleged that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was plotting to arrest him over his criticism of the agency and its chairman, Olanipekun Olukoyede. He claimed that a prominent lawyer and a social media influencer had visited the EFCC office, presenting clips and a picture of him spraying money, suggesting it as an opportunity for the agency to target him

Abdulkareem's intervention adds to a growing list of public figures advocating for VeryDarkMan's release. Comedian Nedu Wazobia and actress Liz Anjorin have also expressed support, urging the federal government to ensure the activist's freedom .

As the situation develops, the public continues to monitor the legal proceedings, with many emphasizing the need for due process and the protection of individual rights.
