"Charity Begins at Home!" — Woman Drags VeryDarkMan for Allegedly Neglecting His Mother While Donating to Strangers

Outspoken social commentator and activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has come under fire from a Nigerian woman on social media who accused him of prioritizing public philanthropy over caring for his own family  particularly his mother.

In a widely circulated video, the woman criticized VDM for what she described as a contradiction in values. She alleged that while he is busy “creating Facebook boreholes” and giving out millions to strangers, his own mother is allegedly left struggling without meaningful support.

“You’re online talking about justice, giving millions to establish people you barely know, and building boreholes for clout, but your mother is suffering. Charity begins at home!” she said.

The video sparked heated debate online, with some users defending VDM, praising his activism and philanthropic outreach, while others echoed the woman’s concerns, calling for more transparency about how public figures balance family responsibility with public charity.

“You can’t be a hero on the streets and a ghost in your home,” one commenter wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“Let’s get the full story before judging  it could be false or exaggerated,” another user replied.

As of press time, VeryDarkMan has not responded to the allegations. Known for his blunt takes on politics, social issues, and celebrity controversies, VDM’s silence on the matter has only fueled speculation.

This isn’t the first time the activist has faced scrutiny over his personal life clashing with his public image. However, supporters argue that his work  including donating to startup businesses, building community infrastructure, and advocating against injustice  speaks volumes about his character.

This controversy once again raises the age-old debate: Should public figures prioritize family before public goodwill? Or is it possible and fair  to expect them to balance both equally?
