Banky W Opens Up on Struggles with Infertility: "We Were Laughed At, But God Came Through"

Nigerian singer and entrepreneur Banky W has shared a deeply personal and emotional story about his and his wife, Adesua Etomi-Wellington's, struggles with infertility, revealing how the couple struggled for four years to conceive a child after their marriage.

In a candid interview, Banky W recounted how the pressure to have a child became overwhelming and how they faced ridicule from friends, family, and society.

During the emotional conversation, Banky W explained that after their wedding, the desire for a child became so consuming that it almost felt like an obsession. "After my wedding, my wife, Adesua, and I got to the point where the desire for a child became an idol," he admitted. "Every month, when her period would come, she'd be crying, she'd be depressed, she'd be upset, and it was painful to watch."

Banky W revealed that the couple tried multiple IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) procedures, undergoing the treatment three times, but each attempt was unsuccessful. Despite their efforts and financial investments, the dream of becoming parents seemed distant. In addition to the emotional toll, they became the subject of mockery. "We spent money on this struggle to have a child, but it didn't work," Banky said, explaining how both of them became a laughingstock in society.

He went on to explain how even their close family and friends ridiculed them behind their backs, with some even going as far as calling Adesua a "barren woman." "My family members laughed at me, my friends, and almost everyone I knew laughed at me behind my back," he recalled with a somber tone. "It was so painful to see my wife let the mockery get to her."

However, everything changed when Banky W made a decision to stop worrying about the situation. "One day, I called Adesua and said, ‘I don't care if this child we're looking for comes today, tomorrow, next month, next year, in the next 10 years, or never. It's okay, let's love ourselves and trust God,’" he shared. This pivotal moment marked a turning point for the couple.

Banky W and Adesua stopped focusing on their struggle and allowed themselves to let go of the anxiety surrounding conception. Just a few months later, the couple found out they were expecting. "We stopped worrying and a couple of months later, we got pregnant just like that," Banky said, his voice filled with gratitude and joy.

Banky W emphasized that the key to their breakthrough was trusting in God. "Whatever you're seeking, seek God first, and the thing will come," he said, offering words of hope and encouragement to those going through similar struggles.

The couple’s journey to parenthood has been a testament to patience, faith, and resilience. In the end, their faith was rewarded, and their long-awaited child, a son, was born. Their story has resonated with many Nigerians and fans worldwide who have faced similar challenges and who continue to find strength in their faith and perseverance.

Banky W's story has now gone viral, with many expressing admiration for his openness and vulnerability. His message to others facing infertility struggles is clear: trust the process, trust God, and never give up.
