VeryDarkMan Mocks Tinubu Over Aso Rock's Shift to Solar Amid Power Crisis

Comedian and social commentator VeryDarkMan has criticized President Bola Tinubu's decision to disconnect Aso Rock from the national electricity grid due to persistent power outages and escalating tariffs.

The presidency has allocated ₦10 billion in the 2025 budget to install a solar mini-grid at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, aiming to ensure a stable power supply for the seat of government .

In a satirical video shared widely on social media, VeryDarkMan mocked the government's move, highlighting the disparity between the elite's access to solar energy and the common man's struggle with high electricity costs. He pointed out that while Aso Rock transitions to solar power, ordinary Nigerians continue to grapple with unreliable grid electricity and unaffordable tariffs.

The national grid currently serves only about 15% of Nigeria's power demand, with the majority of households and businesses relying on expensive self-generation . The recent tariff hike, which increased electricity costs for Band A consumers from ₦68 to ₦225 per kilowatt-hour, has intensified public outcry .
