Skales’ “Shake Body” Earns Biggest Streaming Day on Spotify Nearly 11 Years After Release

Nigerian singer Skales is celebrating a career milestone as his 2014 hit single “Shake Body” just recorded its highest streaming day ever on Spotify  racking up an impressive 213,000 streams yesterday alone.

The unexpected surge in numbers comes nearly 11 years after the track’s original release, proving the timeless appeal of the energetic Afropop anthem. The song’s resurgence is being linked to renewed interest following viral usage on social media platforms, particularly after Barcelona football sensation Lamine Yamal used the track in a celebratory clip.

Skales reacted with joy to the news, sharing the streaming stats on his social media and expressing gratitude to fans new and old who continue to support the song. “Wow! 11 years later and y’all still shaking body? Love forever,” he posted.

“Shake Body” was released in 2014 as part of Skales’ debut album Man of the Year and quickly became a club and radio staple across Africa. Its recent revival has even sparked talk of a high-profile remix featuring American superstar Chris Brown, with Davido reportedly stepping in to help make the collaboration happen.

The track’s viral comeback is yet another example of how Afrobeats classics continue to find new life in the digital era — and how enduring talent and sound can defy the passage of time.
