NYSC Warns Corps Members Against Night Travel to Their Places of Primary Assignment

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a strong warning to newly deployed corps members, advising them to avoid night travel when proceeding to their Places of Primary Assignment (PPA) across the country.

In an official statement released by the NYSC Directorate Headquarters on Monday, the scheme emphasized the increasing security risks associated with night journeys, urging corps members to prioritize their safety and travel only during daylight hours.

“In view of the current security challenges in parts of the country, corps members are strongly advised to avoid night travel. Any corps member who disobeys this advisory does so at his or her own risk,” the statement read.

The NYSC also reiterated its commitment to the safety and welfare of all participants in the scheme, noting that the deployment process is carefully structured to allow sufficient time for travel and resettlement before reporting to PPAs.

Officials at various orientation camps have reportedly briefed corps members on safety protocols, and transport logistics are being improved in some regions to facilitate safer and easier relocation.

Parents and guardians have been urged to counsel their wards against embarking on night trips, while transport companies are also being advised to support the scheme’s safety guidelines.

This announcement comes amid broader efforts by the NYSC and security agencies to ensure the safe movement of corps members across Nigeria, especially during transitions from orientation camps to remote or rural PPAs.

Corps members have been reminded that their safety is a top priority — and that adherence to these guidelines is not just about following rules, but about protecting their lives.
