Social media influencer and entrepreneur, Arike, has broken her silence following a wave of backlash tied to controversial tweets aimed at music star Davido.
In a public statement released today, Arike firmly distanced herself from the messages, stating that she had no knowledge of the posts and that her Twitter account may have been compromised.“I’m not into clout chasing and I will never do such to Davido,” Arike declared. “Someone is clearly using my Twitter to dish out messages I know absolutely nothing about.”
The tweets in question, which surfaced earlier this week, accused Davido of favoritism and hinted at personal grievances—sparking swift reactions from fans of the singer and social media users.
Arike, known for her fashion and lifestyle brand, emphasized her respect for Davido and his contributions to the entertainment industry. “He has supported so many people, and I have no reason to disrespect him. Anyone who knows me knows I wouldn’t use someone else’s name to trend.”
She added that she has taken steps to secure her accounts and is investigating how unauthorized access occurred.
Her statement has prompted fans and fellow influencers to call for caution online, as impersonation and hacked accounts continue to spark false controversies in Nigeria’s social media space.
