Anambra State witnessed a grand union of two of Nigeria’s most affluent families as Kene Obiejesi, daughter of billionaire oil magnate Dr. Ernest Azudialu-Obiejesi (popularly known as Obi Jackson), married Ugochukwu Okonkwo, son of Chief Dr. Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Okonkwo, CEO of Ekulo Group.
The traditional wedding, held in Okija, Ihiala LGA, was a spectacle of opulence, drawing dignitaries and business magnates from across the country. The ceremony was a blend of cultural heritage and modern luxury, reflecting the prominence of both families in Nigeria’s business landscape.
Prior to the traditional rites, Ugochukwu had proposed to Kene during a romantic boat cruise in Lagos, followed by an exclusive engagement dinner estimated to have cost over ₦50 million. The event was marked by elegance, featuring a rose-themed setting, live orchestra, and gourmet dining, setting the stage for the forthcoming white wedding.
Dr. Ernest Azudialu-Obiejesi, known for his contributions to Nigeria’s oil and gas sector through Nestoil Group, and his philanthropic endeavors via the Obiejesi Foundation, showcased his commitment to cultural preservation during the wedding. The event highlighted the rich Igbo traditions, with performances representing various groups, adding vibrancy to the festivities.
As the families unite, the marriage of Kene and Ugochukwu symbolizes more than a personal bond; it represents the merging of two powerful business dynasties, poised to influence Nigeria’s economic and social spheres.
The upcoming white wedding is anticipated to be another grand affair, with preparations already underway to ensure it matches the scale and elegance of the traditional ceremony.
