Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have successfully raided a Ponzi Scheme Academy and apprehended 133 suspects in Abuja.
The operation, which took place on Monday, March 24, 2025, targeted the so-called "Q University" (also known as Q-Net), located in the Compensation Layout area of Gwagwalada, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).The bust was made possible through actionable intelligence gathered by the EFCC, which led them to the fraudulent Academy. Q University was reportedly in the business of recruiting vulnerable young Nigerians, training them to become agents of the scheme by convincing others to join and invest with the promise of unrealistic profit returns.
The academy's training program, ominously titled "Special Training for New Generation Billionaires," brainwashed participants into believing they would soon join the ranks of the ultra-wealthy. In exchange for enrolling, participants filled out an “Independent Representative Application Form,” promoted with catchy slogans such as “I’m a Champion,” “I’m Unstoppable,” and “I’m Infinity” to lure in new recruits.
The EFCC operation was carried out in collaboration with the 176 Guards Battalion of the Nigerian Army, showcasing a united front in combating financial crimes across the country.
During the raid, a variety of electronic gadgets were seized, including phones, computers, and other digital devices. These items are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
The suspects, currently in custody, will face charges in court once the investigation is concluded, sending a strong message about the EFCC’s commitment to tackling financial fraud in the country.
