Basketmouth Shares Heartwarming Story of Wizkid's Generosity, Refutes Claims of Being Proud

Nigerian comedian Basketmouth has shared a touching story about Wizkid’s generosity, offering a glimpse behind the scenes of the star’s humble and considerate nature.

In an emotional recount, Basketmouth dismissed the rumors of Wizkid being "proud" and instead highlighted a significant act of kindness the music star extended to him in 2014.

Speaking on social media, Basketmouth revealed that he had been working hard to organize a show in Lagos that year and was eager to have Wizkid perform. "2014, I had my show in Lagos and I really needed Wizkid to perform and I was willing to pay him anything," Basketmouth said. He reached out to the music star, expecting to offer a substantial payment for his appearance. However, Wizkid surprised him by refusing payment. "He told me not to bother about paying him. He promised to come as a surprise guest and put on a show for free."

The comedian then described a turn of events that left him in disbelief. Just three days before the event, Wizkid called to inform him that, unfortunately, he couldn’t make it due to a "very important family emergency." Although disappointed, Basketmouth accepted the situation. However, the plot thickened when Wizkid contacted him again just 35 minutes later.

"Wizkid asked me to contact any Nigerian artiste I wanted to book for the event and get back to him with the bills," Basketmouth recalled. He quickly reached out to top Nigerian acts, including Lil Kesh, Kcee, Yemi Alade, and Phyno. The total bill for the artists was a whopping 40 million Naira.

"Incredibly, Wizkid cleared it all. Mannn! I thought I was dreaming," Basketmouth wrote, clearly moved by the music star's generosity. He went on to refute the perception of Wizkid often portrayed on social media, stating, "Wizkid is not the guy social media keeps trying to make y’all believe he is."

Basketmouth’s heartfelt post has since gone viral, with fans and followers praising Wizkid for his selflessness and humility.
