Nyesom Wike Inspects Ongoing Bus Terminal Construction Projects in FCT with Governor Umaru Fintiri

Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has embarked on an inspection tour of ongoing construction projects in the FCT alongside Governor Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State.

The two leaders visited key sites where bus terminals are currently under construction, aimed at improving transportation infrastructure in Abuja.

The inspection focused on the construction of bus terminals at Mabushi, Eagle Square, and Kugbo. These projects are part of the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to address the growing transportation challenges in the nation’s capital, with a vision to create a more efficient and sustainable public transport system.

Wike, who has made significant strides in infrastructure development since his appointment as the FCT Minister, expressed satisfaction with the progress of the projects. He emphasized the importance of these terminals in easing traffic congestion, providing better public transport options, and contributing to the overall urban development of the FCT.

Governor Umaru Fintiri, who accompanied Wike on the tour, praised the initiative as a step in the right direction, noting the importance of infrastructure in the development of the nation's capital. He highlighted that improving transportation systems would not only benefit residents of the FCT but would also enhance economic activities and ease the movement of people and goods.

The Mabushi, Eagle Square, and Kugbo bus terminals are expected to be central hubs in the city’s bus rapid transit (BRT) system, offering commuters more organized and accessible transport options. The project aligns with the government’s goal to modernize public transportation and reduce reliance on private vehicles, which contribute significantly to traffic gridlock and pollution in the city.

Both Wike and Fintiri reiterated their commitment to seeing the projects completed on schedule, with a focus on delivering quality infrastructure that meets the needs of the growing population of Abuja.

The ongoing inspections and construction work underscore the federal government's dedication to transforming Abuja into a world-class city, with improved infrastructure to support its development as a hub of commerce and governance in Nigeria.
