EFCC Arrests 47 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Ekpoma, Edo State



Operatives from the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested 47 suspected internet fraudsters in Ekpoma, Edo State, on Saturday, February 15, 2025.

The arrests followed credible intelligence that linked the suspects to various fraudulent internet activities, including cybercrimes such as romance scams, phishing, and other online fraudulent schemes.

The EFCC operatives carried out coordinated raids at different locations in Ekpoma, leading to the apprehension of the suspects. Among the items recovered from them were 14 exotic cars, laptops, and mobile phones, which are believed to have been used in the commission of their illegal activities.

The arrested individuals have reportedly made useful statements during their interrogation. They are expected to be charged to court once investigations are completed.

The EFCC has reiterated its commitment to curbing cybercrime and other financial crimes in Nigeria, warning that anyone involved in such illegal activities will face the full weight of the law.
