Adeleke Alleges Plot by Oyetola and APC to Disrupt Osun's Local Government Elections Amidst Rising Tensions

In a fresh political uproar in Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke has raised serious concerns about alleged efforts by former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, a cousin of APC leader Bola Tinubu, to disrupt the upcoming Local Government elections. Adeleke claimed that Oyetola has been meeting with security officials in the state to strategize on reclaiming control over local government and councillor positions in an attempt to undermine the democratic process.

Two days ago, Governor Adeleke took to social media and public statements to warn that the APC, realizing they’ve been outmaneuvered in the local government affairs, is now resorting to underhanded tactics to regain power. He described these actions as "illegal" and a deliberate attempt to destabilize Osun State. Adeleke’s alarm followed the recent violence that has shaken the state, with political parties, particularly the APC, being accused of fueling unrest to regain control.

“Essentially, it’s just technicalities in play here. APC knows they’ve been played. That’s why they are trying to use the back door,” Adeleke explained. He stressed that the ongoing political chaos is linked to a power struggle between the PDP-led state government and the APC, who are locked in a battle over local governance.

In the midst of these accusations, popular Nigerian artist and Osun State native, Davido, also voiced his concerns. He expressed strong belief that the Commissioner of Police in the state is colluding with Oyetola’s camp to create chaos and prevent the local elections from taking place. According to Davido, this is a deliberate effort by the APC to delay or obstruct the election process altogether.

While Oyetola has not responded to these claims, tensions in Osun have been running high, with fears that the ongoing political turmoil could lead to more violence and instability in the state.

The public outcry has intensified as many residents demand clarity from the authorities on the intentions behind these alleged political maneuverings. Osun’s future stability now hinges on the resolution of this bitter power struggle, and with the governor’s calls for transparency, many are hoping that the state can move beyond this crisis to uphold democratic processes.

The situation remains fluid, with political analysts and the public watching closely as both sides prepare for the local government elections in the coming weeks.
