Senator Shehu Sani reacts as Babatunde Fashola says some states now enjoy almost 24 hours of power supply
Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has revealed that some states in Nigeria now enjoy “almost 24 hours” of electricity supply.
Speaking in a recent interview with Channels TV, the minister said the increase in electricity supply is as a result of the increase in transmission capacity.
Fashola said even as the transmission grew with about 8,100 watts as of December, the distribution networks have been the major challenge in making power available all the time.
“Sitting down here I can tell you some states that have almost 24 hours – Kebbi, Yobe. Some have five, some have 10 and there are still outages. The generation capacity is also increasing. It is a value chain where the distribution is not matching up the available power and from time to time, there are slacks. The short term goals are incremental power and stable supply in some places.” he said
