Controversial social media commentator, VeryDarkMan, has taken a direct swipe at popular businessman and nightlife mogul, Obi Cubana, over what he described as a questionable stance on a political “mandate.”
In a strongly worded post, VeryDarkMan accused Obi Cubana of lacking independence in his position, suggesting that the billionaire was merely acting under influence rather than personal conviction. He wrote: “Obi Cubana, open your mouth and sing on your mandate cos why you dey do like say you no get choice? … Ndi errãnd boy mandate.”
The statement, delivered in VeryDarkMan’s trademark blunt style, quickly stirred reactions across social media, with users debating whether the criticism was justified or unnecessarily confrontational. While some agreed with the activist’s call for influential figures to speak boldly and independently, others felt the remarks were disrespectful and uncalled for.
As of the time of filing this report, Obi Cubana has not publicly responded to the comments. The exchange has, however, reignited conversations around celebrity influence, political alignment, and the expectations placed on public figures in Nigeria’s sociopolitical space.
