Kidnapped Doctor Treats Abductor’s Child as Suspects Arrested at Hospital in Auchi

A dramatic twist has emerged in the kidnapping case involving a medical doctor and his brother in Auchi, after suspects linked to the abduction were reportedly arrested at a hospital where the same doctor later attended to their sick child.

According to reports, the doctor, identified as Dr. Abu Tunde, a House Officer (HO), and his younger brother were kidnapped by armed men who allegedly demanded a ransom of ₦100 million. During the period of captivity, the younger brother was reportedly killed, while the doctor was later released after millions of naira were paid to secure his freedom.

In an unexpected development, one of the suspected abductors allegedly brought his sick child to a hospital for urgent treatment — only to be attended to by Dr. Tunde, the same physician they had earlier kidnapped. Security operatives were subsequently alerted, leading to the arrest of the suspects at the medical facility.

The incident has drawn widespread reactions, with many describing it as both tragic and ironic. Supporters and well-wishers who prayed and contributed toward the doctor’s safe release have been praised for their solidarity, while calls for justice over the killing of his brother continue to grow.

Authorities are yet to release a full official statement on the arrests, but investigations are said to be ongoing. The case has further highlighted the ongoing concerns over kidnapping and security in the region.
