Yobe Hisbah Commission Bans Private Interactions Between Opposite Genders in Public Transport and Gatherings
The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has issued a directive prohibiting physical interactions and private conversations between persons of opposite genders in commercial tricycles, motorcycles, and at public gatherings across the state.
The commission stated that the measure is aimed at ensuring moral conduct and public decency in line with Sharia law.
Officials warned operators of commercial motorcycles and tricycles, as well as organizers of public events, to strictly enforce the directive, noting that violations could attract penalties.
The announcement has sparked reactions online, with some residents praising the move as a step toward maintaining public morality, while others have questioned the practicality of enforcing such a ban in everyday interactions.
The Hisbah Commission emphasized that the directive applies immediately and urged the public to comply to avoid confrontation with law enforcement.
