Homes of students from Adekunle Ajasin University (AAU) were reportedly burgled over the Christmas and New Year holiday period while the students were away celebrating with their families.
The incidents occurred at GT Extension 1T4 Poultry Road and Idumebo, where burglars allegedly took away personal belongings, leaving the residences ransacked. The theft has sparked concerns about security in the area, particularly during festive periods when many homes are left unoccupied.
Residents and affected students have condemned the attacks, urging local authorities and law enforcement to step up patrols and enhance safety measures. Social media users have also expressed outrage, calling for accountability and swift action to apprehend the perpetrators.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the incidents, but community leaders are reportedly coordinating with police to investigate and prevent further occurrences during future holiday seasons.
