Nigerian Man Praises Wike’s Work as FCT Minister, Defends His Efforts in Road Development

A Nigerian man has come out in strong defense of the work done by Nyesom Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State, during his tenure as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister.

According to the man, who shared his thoughts on social media, anyone who claims that Wike's efforts in the FCT have been overhyped has never lived in Abuja.

He pointed specifically to the road construction project leading to Deda Hospital in Jahi/Katampe, which he describes as one of the best hospitals in the city. “I almost withdrew my wife’s antenatal services from the hospital because of the slow pace of the road construction,” he wrote. However, the man highlighted that, thanks to Wike’s intervention, he can now travel to the hospital in just 10 minutes from his residence.

The man continued, emphasizing that Wike's work should not be judged by immediate new projects but by the improvement in existing infrastructure. He pointed out that those who expect Wike to start new projects right away, after inheriting a city that he felt had been neglected, are "certified clowns."

This sentiment comes at a time when there has been public debate about Wike’s tenure as FCT Minister. Many have praised his hands-on approach, particularly in addressing longstanding infrastructural challenges in Abuja, while others have questioned the pace and scale of the developments.

In the face of such criticisms, this individual’s perspective provides a nuanced take, acknowledging Wike's contributions to improving key areas of the city, especially roads and accessibility, which have had a direct impact on the daily lives of residents.
