A driver was miraculously rescued this morning, April 7, after his car plunged off the Otedola Bridge in Lagos.
Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle lost control, veered off the road, and crashed down from the bridge, sending shockwaves through onlookers. Emergency services, including the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and other rescue teams, quickly responded to the scene.
Thankfully, the driver was rescued and has been taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities are working to clear the scene and ensure that traffic in the area, which is often congested, returns to normal.
"The car fell off the bridge but, fortunately, the driver survived. He was conscious when we got to him and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment," said a spokesperson from LASEMA.
The cause of the accident has not yet been confirmed, but investigations are underway. Initial reports suggest that the driver might have lost control due to slippery road conditions or mechanical failure.
Motorists are urged to drive cautiously around the Otedola Bridge and other major roads in Lagos, especially during the rainy season, when conditions can be hazardous.
