IPOB Sets IDP Camp on Fire in Imo State, Claims Deception in University Construction

In a shocking incident in Imo State, members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) reportedly set fire to an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp, alleging they were deceived into building a university that would serve as a training ground for Boko Haram insurgents.

Witnesses described chaotic scenes as the fire engulfed the camp, prompting swift responses from local authorities and emergency services. IPOB members claimed that the construction of the university was sold to them as a development initiative, only to later discover its purported connections to training militants from northern Nigeria.

“ We were led to believe that this was a project for our future, a place of learning and opportunity,” one IPOB member stated. “Now we see it as a threat to our people and our security.”

Local government officials have condemned the actions, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and peaceful protest over violence. They are currently assessing the damage caused by the fire and providing assistance to those affected.

As tensions rise in the region, authorities are calling for calm and urging community members to report any suspicious activities related to the university project. Security agencies are also investigating the claims made by IPOB regarding the alleged militant training facility.

The situation remains fluid, and officials are working to restore order while addressing the underlying grievances of the community.
